Dalkia energy efficient headquarters

- Since our goal is to verify our headquarters in accordance with sustainability standard ISO 26 000 in the spring, it was a logical step for us to take. We want our headquarters to be equipped with the technology that we advocate, says Michael Viik, Purchasing Manager at Dalkia.

Dalkia's headquarters in Stockholm is approximately 2 000 square meters and had until recently manual lighting switches, which often resulted in lamps were lighted needlessly with unnecessary energy consumption.

In spring 2011, a power saving calculation, in cooperation with Elektroskandia was conducted, which showed that energy costs for the headquarters of existing lighting could be cut by over 60 percent. Elektroskandia was then instructed to produce an overall solution in terms of lighting ranging from open plan offices, singel offices and conference rooms to hallways, lunchrooms, and washrooms. In total was approximately 250 new fixtures installed during the summer and autumn of 2011. Other measures taken include everything from replacing old household appliances with more energy-efficient once, to appeal to all employee to influence by turning off computers, monitors, etc. when not in use.

- In the future, we will also have a display in our reception area where our customers can see the headquarters energy consumption and how it changes over time. With the improved energy efficiency we have made, we want to lead by example, concludes Mikael Viik.
