STEPin Harjavallan Suurteollisuuspuiston höyrykattilalaitos valmistui ennätysajassa

Pori Energia -konserniin kuuluva Suomen Teollisuuden Energiapalvelut - STEP Oy huolehtii Suurteollisuuspuistossa tehdasalueen energiapalveluista. STEP toimittaa teollisuusprosesseista talteen otettua ja voimalaitoksella tuotettua höyryä ja prosessilämpöä alueen teollisuusasiakkaille sekä kaukolämpöä Harjavallan kaupungille. Tuotannon vuosittainen kokonaismäärä on yli 600 GWh:a.

STEPin maaliskuussa 2011 tilaama ja nyt Suurteollisuuspuistossa käyttöönottama laitos tuottaa höyryä 25 t/h ja sen tekniikka täyttää niin nykyiset eurooppalaiset päästönormit kuin tulevat EU-direktiivitkin. Esimerkiksi kattilan polttimen valinnassa on kiinnitetty erityistä huomiota päästöjen hallintaan.

Höyrykattilalaitos tarvitaan vanhan voimalaitoksen tueksi, mutta se tuo samalla lisäkapasiteettia tilanteisiin, joissa höyryn saanti prosessikattiloista on rajoitettu. Nyt käyttöön otettu höyrykattilalaitos sijoitettiin keskelle Suurteollisuuspuistoa vanhan voimalaitosrakennuksen viereen ja se on samalla myös osa suunnitteilla olevaa biovoimalaitosta, jonka rakentaminen on tarkoitus aloittaa tämän vuoden aikana.

"Yhteistyö STEPin ja Renewan projektipäälliköiden sekä tekniikka- ja projektitiimien välillä on toiminut erinomaisesti, mikä on ollut ratkaisevan tärkeää projektin toteuttamisessa näin nopealla aikataululla. STEPin voimalaitososaaminen ja Renewan laiteosaaminen on projektissa saatu hyvin nivellettyä laitoksen toteutukseen", kertoo STEPin toimitusjohtaja Tomi Ihalainen.

"Uusi kattilalaitos on liitetty tehdasautomaatiojärjestelmään. Tämä tuo käyttövarmuutta ja joustavuutta kattiloiden yhteiskäyttöön. Sopimuksen mukaisesti erittäin nopealla aikataululla toteutettu, hyvin sujunut projekti on osoitus Renewa Oy:n osaamisesta ja vahvistaa osaltaan voimalaitosprojektihallinnan osaamistamme", korostaa Renewa Oy:n projektipäällikkö Mauri Rantanen.

Höyrykattilalaitoksen laitteet on valmistettu kesän 2011 aikana Renewan konepajoilla ja asennettu paikoilleen syksyn 2011 aikana. Renewa on tehnyt jo vuosia yhteistyötä STEPin ja Pori Energia Oy:n kanssa voimalaitosten kunnossapitotöissä - aluksi Porin Aittaluodossa ja sittemmin myös Harjavallassa mm. höyrykattilan perusparannuksen yhteydessä.

STEP's new steam boiler plant in the Harjavalta Industrial Park was completed in record time

The new 20 MW steam boiler plant, delivered by Renewa Oy to Suomen Teollisuuden Energiapalvelut - STEP Oy on turnkey basis, has been commissioned in the Harjavalta Industrial Park. The new boiler plant is part of a larger project which aims to secure future energy needs in the Industrial Park.

Suomen Teollisuuden Energiapalvelut - STEP Oy takes care of the energy services in the Harjavalta Industrial Park. STEP delivers steam and process heat for industrial customers in the area as well as district heating to the town of Harjavalta. Steam and heat is recovered from the industrial processes and also produced at the power plant of STEP. The total annual production is over 600 GWh.

The new steam boiler plant, which was ordered by STEP in March 2011 and which has now been taken over in the Harjavalta Industrial Park, produces steam at 25 tons per hour and its technology covers the current European emission standards as well as future EU directives. For example when selecting the burner for the boiler, special attention has been paid to controlling emissions.

The new boiler plant is needed to support the old power plant, but at the same time it brings additional capacity in situations where the supply of process steam from the recovery boilers is limited.The new boiler plant is placed in the center of the Industrial Park next to the old power plant building, but it is also a part of the new biomass power plant of which construction is scheduled to start later this year.

"The cooperation between STEP's and Renewa's project managers and engineering and project teams has been excellent, which was crucial for the implementation of the project in such a short time frame. STEP's power plant know-how and Renewa's hardware knowledge has been joined well for the implementation of the new boiler plant", says the Managing Director of STEP, Mr. Tomi Ihalainen.

"The new boiler plant is connected to the power plant's automation system. This brings reliability and flexibility to the joint usage of the boilers.The very tight time schedule in line with the agreement and the fact that the project has worked well, demonstrates Renewa Oy's expertise and strengthens our expertise in managing power plant projects",emphasizes Renewa Oy's project manager, Mr. Mauri Rantanen.

The equipment of the boiler plant was manufactured during the summer of 2011 at Renewa's workshops and was installed into place during the autumn of 2011. Renewa has already cooperated with STEP and Pori Energia Oy for several years on maintenance works in the power plants- initially at Aittaluoto in Pori and later also in Harjavalta in connection with the renovation of a steam boiler among other things.
